Plan a Perfect BBQ Party
Barbeques are popular for events such as Australia Day, birthday parties, receptions, and going away parties. No matter why you have decided to plan a barbeque party, the memories that will come from it are sure to stick with your guests for many years to come, provided that you plan ahead. Planning the perfect BBQ party is not difficult, as long as you follow a few simple steps
1) Planning Your Guests
First, no barbeque would be complete without guests. Plan ahead of time, checking with your potential guest for scheduling conflicts and issues. Finding a date and time that is suitable for everyone should not be too hard as long as you have given everyone enough advanced notice. Remember that not everyone will be able to come, no matter how much notice you give them, so do not get discouraged if you do not get as many RSVPs as your originally hoped for
2) Be Sure About the Weather
Be sure to check the weather for that type of year. If you live in a climate that cannot be predicted, then you may want to have a backup plan just incase unusual weather comes. You cannot predict things like rain and thunderstorms ahead of time, but you can make sure that you hold you barbeque during the time of year that will be pleasant to your guests. A barbeque in cold weather may hold more negative memories of trying to keep warm rather then good memories of family and friends
3) Preparing the Meat
Purchase the type of meat that you will be serving at your party. You will want to have a least a couple of different kinds of meats, as everyone attending may not like a certain kind. It is usually safe to go with pork, sausage, hamburgers, and chicken. If smaller children are going to be in attendance, you should consider child friendly foods such as smaller hamburgers and hot dogs
4) Completing the Meal With Side Dishes
Once you have the meat purchased, you will then want to consider what type of sides dished you will serve. If you want a completely traditional barbeque, you may want to stick with traditional sides. Traditional barbeque sides include potatoes, potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw. Your traditional condiment bar should include pickles, relish, and onions. These foods are typically served at barbeques because they are easy to prepare and store until the event happens. You may want to cook other items, but any barbeque is complete with just the items listed above. Once again, if children will be present, you may want to consider sides for them as well
The simplest approach to side dishes is chips and dip. Chips and dip do not require any cooking on your part, and will still be loved by the majority of your guests
5) Decorating Your BBQ
Depending on the theme of your party, you may or may not want to purchase decorations. Festive decorations can be found at any local party or general store. You may also consider purchasing decorations that can be stored and reused at a different time, such as reusable tablecloths and Tiki torches
6) Day Before Preparation
The day before you party, you will want to make sure to thaw, prepare, and marinate the meat you will be cooking. Store the meat away, soaking up the marinade until it is time for it to go on the grill. Prepare any side dishes that you can ahead of time
7) Time to BBQ!
The day of the party, get up early and start preparing for it. You do not want your guests arriving while you are still cooking or hanging decorations. It should only take you a few hours at most to prepare the area in which you will be having the party, but the reactions from your guest will probably seem as if you have been planning this for weeks. Try to have the grill already going by time the guests get there as well, because the smell coming from the grill is sure to get everyone in the mood

Save Your Money to Wealth
by Sigrid de Kaste
Does Saving Bust Your Money Myths?
Making the most of your money often requires common sense more so than a commerce degree. Lets take a look at five misconceptions about money that may be holding you back from wealth
1. I don’t earn enough to Save
A lack of savings generally has less to do with how much you earn and much more with how much you spend. Cutting out even small discretionary spends can help you save
- Take away coffee every day at work can save you around $820 a year
- Buying lunch three days a week can save more than $1,000 a year
- Tuckshop once a week for the kids can save more than $250 a year
We don’t save because often we think we need to have $50 or $100 at a time which is totally wrong
Start small…if you save $1 a day from age 18 to 65, with compound interest paid at 6% you would have $96,000. Make it $5 a day and you’ll achieve $480,000
2. A Sale is a Chance to Save
A sale is actually a chance to shop and probably spend either more thatn you intend or more than you can afford
Of course you will spend less on an item if you wait for it to go on sale but the problem is, many of us discard our shopping list or exceed our budget when we are faced with a bargain. We focus on how much we could save, not how much we are about to spend
Big tip: keep focused on what it is you are looking for and do not get distracted by the sale signs
3. My Home will Finance my Retirement
If you live in a multi million dollar home then you might be right. Many of us however could be struggling to even pay off our homes by retirement. There is a growing concern amongst financial experts that many boomers will be looking to their superannuation to pay off their mortgages
Instead of paying off the family home many Australians have been dipping into their home equity to fund their lifestyles with a view to using their super limp sums to clear the debt. That strategy is likely to push more seniors onto the age pension earlier
The best way to prepare for retirement is to put more into super and establish some long term investment goals to achieve wealth
4. My Bank will only give me a Credit Card Limit I can Afford
When lenders assess how much credit cad debt you can handle they really are stretching things to the limit. They’re not considering your real life financial responsibilities. They are counting on you covering just the minimum repayment each month so you take as long as possible and pay as much interest into the banks’ coffers
Regardless of what a lender offers you in credit, you need to do the sums yourself. Start the habit of paying off your credit card every month
5. I’m better off Renting and putting my Money into Shares
With house prices climbing beyond the grasp of many first time home buyers it’s not surprising some are tempted to give up their dream of property and invest in shares. Financially there may not be anything wrong with that strategy. Property and the share market are both long term investments to wealth
One advantage of home ownership, however, is that paying down a mortgage becomes a form of forced savings. Your property will grow in value over the long term. If you are renting you need to be fairly disciplined to regularly invest a portion of your income. This is where the best investors can come unstuck.
Everyone’s circumstances are different so make sure you get expert financial advice before deciding on which investment is best to wealth for you. Creating a habit to save although, is always useful!

Brown rice is the “unrefined” version of white rice. Before white rice went through the refining process, it at one time looked exactly like brown rice. Brown rice, unlike white rice, still has the side hull and bran, which renders quicker cooking times and makes it easier to digest as it’s much “lighter” in the in the stomach.
Since white rice has been stripped of iron, vitamins, zinc, magnesium and other nutrients during the refining process.
Manufacturers must add unnatural fortifications in the form of synthetic vitamins and iron so it can be marketed to the public as a “nutritious food.”

How Long Does it Take to Earn the Price of Beer…?
….asks Garry Wolnarek, from Wolnarek Tax Accountants in one of his latest articles
In the city of Munich, in Germany, the annual October Fest is famous for it’s Beer Consumption over the 16-day event.
7.6 million litres go from glass to mouth and sells at quite inflated prices, recently being EU9 (approx AU $13.50) per litre…and that’s how they serve it, in litre jugs!
The Germans love their beer, they consume around 100 litres per person per year and it is certainly more affordable anywhere away from the Octoberfest
So then there were some Analysts at the Swiss Bank UBS who decided to work out how long it’ll take a thirsty German to work to buy that favourite drink, the Beer
Analysis is based on 500ml and for the average German, earning a median wage, this comes in at having to work just under 7min…!
Flying across to India, a worker there has to put in almost an hour’s work to be able to afford a cool Beer
Someone in the Philippines has to work 38 minutes, in Nigeria 29 minutes and Vietnam 28 minutes…
No idea why they picked those countries…however it gives us a comparison
Let’s take a look at Australia…12 minutes…for half a litre…is that good or bad…what do you think?
…and the US average worker is the luckiest…only about 5 minutes work and they’ve earned enough to buy a beer!
The French have to work 10 minutes and in China it will take the average worker 8 minutes to make his/her beer however having been to China recently I know they are no where near as keen as Australians or Germans about drinking a beer and also nothing like as cold as the Australians like it
The Swiss Bank Analysts also checked on the Mexican’s who need to work around 15 minutes, the Japanese a little longer with 18 minutes
The average out of the 27 countries the UBS Bank Analysts checked on shows that:
It takes about 20 min of a countries median paid worker to earn enough to pay for 1/2 litre of Beer
